How it works
Activates melanocortin receptors, chiefly MC4R, in the hypothalamus. PDE5 inhibitors widen blood vessels; this one starts the signal centrally, so it is studied where the vascular route is not the limiting factor.
Dosage
Research protocols use a small fraction of the vial per administration, well under a milligram. Reconstitute with bacteriostatic water and refrigerate once mixed.
Side effects
Nausea is the most frequently reported and is clearly dose-dependent. Flushing, headache and temporary darkening of the skin also appear in the literature.
